Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a collaborative effort between a therapist and patient(s) and is sometimes called “talk therapy”. Psychotherapy is different and more structured than talking to a friend, a coach and even clergy. Psychotherapy can be offered in different formats including individual, couple, family or group therapy. I use an individualized approach that will incorporate Psychodynamic and Supportive psychotherapy with the use of Cognitive Behavioral techniques. You will learn how to take control of your life with healthier coping skills. At this time I only treat Adults.

Often people seek therapy because they are struggling with thoughts, feelings, behaviors or worries about
themselves or someone close to them. Therapy can be helpful to cope with major life changes such as divorce, loss
of a job, health issues or the death of a loved one. Learning how to identify your feelings, cope with past traumas and manage or resolve current conflicts are components of treatment.
The process of therapy begins with the initial assessment sessions geared to helping us understand the primary problem underlying and additional issues that may impact your situation. . Psychotherapy involves being in a safe non judgmental atmosphere which provides insight, expertise and confidentiality. Within a few sessions, you will have a greater sense of what your issues, concerns and goals are and the steps necessary to move forward. Therapy will help with reduction of your symptoms and greater understanding of your strengths, resources while focusing on removing barriers to success.

In many cases, psychotherapy can be as effective as medications, such as antidepressants. However, in some cases, psychotherapy alone may not be enough to ease the symptoms of a mental health condition. You may also need medications or other treatments. I will work with your doctor or prescriber to ensure the best treatment possible.
