Grief Therapy

Have you experienced a loss or are you facing the unknown?

  • Does the loss of a loved one seem like more than you can handle?

  • Are you unsure of what to say, feel or do for someone close to you at the end of their life?

  • Have you begun anticipatory grieving as you helplessly watch someone you love change before your eyes?

  • Perhaps you have been diagnosed with a life-threatening or terminal illness and you are feeling uncertain or frightened.

You wake up in the morning and the first thing that goes through your mind after a loss:“Is it real …was I dreaming…..how can this be?”   It is hard to imagine the pain of loss if you have not experienced it directly. The experience of grief is different for everyone. Coping with loss  and learning how to  go on ,not “getting over it” is the goal. Learning how to live  without the one you love can feel impossible at times. Grief is like the ocean: some  days it feels like the waves are crashing in, other days seem more manageable. Grief may impact your sense of identity and safety in the world. It may be helpful to seek out support separate and in addition to family and friends to help manage the emotional pain and navigate the journey.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go”
